Who is eligible for WINZ assistance? Work and Income offers financial assistance for dental treatment to those who meet specific criteria. Here's what they generally look for:
New Zealand Citizen or Permanent Resident: You'll need to be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident who normally lives in New Zealand and intends to stay here.
Urgent or Essential Need: You or a dependent child must have an urgent or essential need for dental treatment. This often applies if you're in serious pain and our dentist has determined urgent work is necessary.
Income and Assets: Your eligibility will also depend on your and your partner's income and how many assets you both own.
To check if you are eligible, we always recommend visiting the Work and Income website. If you fit the criteria for Work and Income assistance, you could get some of the cost of your treatment covered:
Up to $1000: For urgent dental treatment, Work and Income generally pay up to a maximum of $1000, which can include restorations like fillings.
More in Some Cases: Depending on your situation, they may be able to pay more.
One Payment Per Year: Generally, Work and Income makes one payment for urgent dental treatment per year.
Travel Assistance: You may also be able to get travel assistance if you meet their criteria.
While Work and Income may not cover the full cost of your dental treatment, their support can significantly reduce your financial burden. For more details on what they can cover, please visit the Work and Income website.
